Virtual Ubiquity + Adobe = Buzzword

Posted in: Web News

The buzz is Buzzword. Did Google miss the boat? Just after releasing version 6 of their private beta, Virtual Ubiquity officially joined Adobe as the first REAL online word processing application. Rightfully so, Buzzword is developed around Adobe Flash and Flex framework and has a WYSIWYG+P (what you see is what you get and print) workspace that will put every thing else to shame (including Google Docs).

The Internet is a vastly changing marketplace and companies like Virtual Ubiquity have positioned themselves to help sculpt it’s future. Trends are slowly moving away from computing elements located only a local desktop to versatile internet based applications that are assessable anywhere in the world.Buzzword is different; it isn’t stripped and boring to use. With the help of Flash, the navigation is smooth and easy to follow. It’s features are top notch too. You can share, track, and accept markups from other users; add images or tables by simply clicking a button; and for those who aren’t spelling inclined, it features on-the-fly spell checking.

If you worry about compatibility between your desktop and Buzzword you might be excited to know that the almighty Microsoft Word document is supported. Upon opening a document from your local desktop you will see it added to your dashboard among the other online documents.I guess if you wanted to get picky, there are a couple features to nag at. First is the light font list which only supports seven styles. It makes sense considering Buzzword is cross browser compatible and aimed at multi-platform users. Buzzword won’t consume all Google Doc users since spreadsheets aren’t yet available…but I see it’s release just around the corner. Adobe’s Acquisition
