Task: Designer or Developer

If you ever browse the Adobe Lab pages, you might have ran across a pretty cool new product code named Thermo. Thermo’s objective is to create better flow between designer and developer by increasing functionality within Photoshop and Illustrator.
Designer:
The designer’s primary task is to provide a layout template for the developer to construct into a web page. Sometimes the layout is sliced and ready to go, other times the developer will tweak it for a more optimal solution.
Developer:
The developer’s primary task is creating code that conforms to web standards and apears as the designer intended. At times, the developer may suggest functional modificaitons to enhance the user’s experience. What about this scenario: the designer hands off a layout. The developer begins coding and realizes he doesn’t know what the interactive elements look like. What happens on the menu rollover? What happens when a users selects a product from the product list? It would be great if designer and developer could unite and know what each other were thinking, but thats hardly ever the case. Occasionally one has experience in the others field, but this too doesn’t happen often either.
With Thermo, the designer can create these interactive controls without knowing any code. This visual reference allows the developer to know exactly look the designer is trying to get without waisting time conversing back and forth. Designed for Flex applications, the UI can be loaded directly into Flex Builder.
