Microsoft recently announced that on Feb. 12th IE7 will be included as a security update in WSUS (Windows server update service) regardless if it were requested or not. In the home environment IE7 is a recommended update through Microsoft’s automatic update service but most companies, both large and small, use WSUS to monitor their computer environment, keeping it up-to-date with the latest fixes. This is good news for web developers hoping to merge the 33% IE6 user base with the 22% IE7 users.

If you ever browse the Adobe Lab pages, you might have ran across a pretty cool new product code named Thermo. Thermo’s objective is to create better flow between designer and developer by increasing functionality within Photoshop and Illustrator.

Designer:

The designer’s primary task is to provide a layout template for the developer to construct into a web page. Sometimes the layout is sliced and ready to go, other times the developer will tweak it for a more optimal solution.

The buzz is Buzzword. Did Google miss the boat? Just after releasing version 6 of their private beta, Virtual Ubiquity officially joined Adobe as the first REAL online word processing application. Rightfully so, Buzzword is developed around Adobe Flash and Flex framework and has a WYSIWYG+P (what you see is what you get and print) workspace that will put every thing else to shame (including Google Docs).

Besides the Browns, Cavaliers, and the Indians; I was excited to discover and participate in the Cleveland Web Standards Association MeetUp. It’s a relatively new group (less than a year old), but as one of the few members who’s profession isn’t web design or development I’m excited to collaborate with other Clevelanders through the 2008 year.
