Profile Picture Hi, my name is Nate Iler and I live in Cleveland Ohio. I consider myself a developer with a limited yet keen eye for design…this basically means I have a barrier between my brain’s vision and my hand. My Web skills and knowledge are self-taught; I’ve never attended an organized class, but have spent the past six years following tutorials and reading threads. My interest stems back to when I was in college where I became fascinated with the internet and saw how much opportunity it posed. At first, my web sites were cluttered with heavy code, but as time passed I started dabbling with database integration and focused on more simple and compliant coding. Today, I have developed a strong foundation of development skills that range from W3C valid XHTML to intranet development to E-Commerce integration.

Outside the Web…

I attended Ashland University where I received a BS in Business Administration and Management Information Systems. While at Ashland I devoted myself to Cross Country / Track & Field which resulted in one USATF appearance, six national championship appearances, four All-American honors, and a handful of conference championships. After college I joined a post-collegiate team with the plans of training through the 2008 Olympic Trials. My aspirations came to an end in early 2006 when I got my first stress fracture resulting in 8 weeks of no training. Running is one of the only sports that will punish you for working too hard…something I had a hard time dealing with. I decided to ‘retire’ and focus on my career. With the halt of running, doors were opening and I began to fall back in love everything else that I put on hold while training. I’m an adventure junkie. I avidly ski/ride and cycle. I’ve also reacquainted myself with rock climbing, beach volleyball and traveling

Entrepreneurial minded…

I’m entrepreneurial minded. I analyze situations trying to find the most optimal and efficient solution. I encompass myself in projects until they are completed, and completed right. Most importantly, I use our vast resources as a tool to tackle the unknown. To elaborate; as a senior in college I started my first business called Fitness Training Solutions Ltd. With the aid of three trusted friends, we designed & produced instructional fitness DVD’s. In just over one year we established partnerships with local companies and created instructional videos for their exercise equipment. Although career changes took hold on each of us and FTS dissolved, it was a successful venture; one that brought experience and ambition to my life. Check back soon for my FTS venture blog. As FTS was coming to an end, I refocused my attention to web development and started my second business called Liquidesign Ltd. I understood my design skills weren’t noteworthy so I teamed up with full time graphic designer to inject some creativity. Visit Liquidesign Ltd. to see what we can do for you.

Right now…

I work for a roll forming company as a system’s analyst. My day is usually found behind a computer working on new projects or performing system maintenance. I typically spend several hours a day working on web projects or learning the latest Web techniques and technologies. Check out my ‘news / updates’ and ‘tips / tricks’ blog for some pretty cool stuff that I’ve uncovered.

Design philosophy…

I don’t spend my time reinventing the wheel. I focus on the details of a clean, logical design with an element of creativity. Typically unseen, my work goes on under the hood with valid code and logical methodologies. Resisting contentment, I feel it’s important to research and stay ahead of the design wave…otherwise it’s easy to get lost among everyone else.
